We’re already here at the end of April, and the start of May, and it’s wonderful to see some lovely weather.
This month is totally focussed on the publication of book three of the Beaconsbury Forest Series which I received back from my editor last week, and it’s now with my typesetter! Very exciting.
As some of you will know, this will be my sixth novel –since hitting seventy - which is mind blowing!
I know I shared this last month, but after receiving book 3 back from my editor, and having some discussions about certain parts – it just reinforced what she says in the blog about the relationship we have. Having an editor you trust is incredibly important. Read here:
My website provider is making some changes, so my emails may be down for a short time, but very soon you’ll be able to buy your ticket to the book launch of ‘Kian’ on June 17th. Once things are completely sorted with that, I’ll send out another newsletter to give you all of the information you need.
During the last weekend of May I’m being interviewed on a podcast by two lovely bookworms, Holly (in the US) and Liz ( in the UK) on their Speaking Literally Podcast. The first part of their podcasts is them catching up and talking about books they’ve read, and then they run the interview with an author. I’ll share the podcast as soon as I know when it goes out.
During the summer, I’m looking forward to taking part in the Stroud Indie Book Fair on June 20th at Lansdown Hall – 10 am, and another I’m looking forward to because of my forest story – the Bream Book Fair, Forest of Dean on Sunday 16th August – 11am to 3pm at Bream Sports Club. If you love reading, love books and meeting authors and you’re in the area, stop by and say hello.
Books I’ve been reading this month are: ‘Oxpeckers’ by another Swindon author, Daewood Ali McCallum. It’s a brilliant thriller set in East Africa which keeps you on the edge of your seat! I’ve also just finished reading ‘Exit Music’ by Ian Rankin. I’ve read a few of his Rebus thrillers, and in this one, Rebus is retiring. It was a good story, and there were definitely some surprises, but there were some bits I found distracting from the storyline and could have done without! I think it would only get 4 stars from me, whereas ‘Oxpeckers’ was a definite 5!
(Daewood Ali McCallum is also the author of ‘Mrs A’s Indian Gentlemen’, a story set in Swindon during the 2nd world war, which is magic!)
A gentle reminder that if you haven’t yet read ‘Honey’ or ‘Finn’ – they need reading before you read ‘Kian’ as you can see from the blurb:
In this episode of the Beaconsbury Forest series, choices made in the past continue to shake the present.
After Finn’s daughter’s best friend is abducted, then set free, the Forest Fiend is finally unmasked. The revelation of the identity of the killer sends shock waves throughout the entire forest community.
And when Kian reappears in Finn’s life, only to share devastating truths, the cracks in Finn and Honey’s relationship deepen.
The family saga continues. Will the Fletcher family ever get past the angst and arguments to find peace within the forest?
Have a wonderful May!
