Poetry and music are to each other, akin
Moving our emotions, as our hearts beat within.
Whether singing, or your prose you emit,
When blowing your own trumpet,
you need a good embouchure,
to pronounce your words, pure.
Do you rhyme your expressions, harmonize
each line, or do you compromise,
writing as you flow, in atonal, discord, free verse?
Happy to step up to the mic, or prefer to rehearse?
As you perform your mellifluous tones,
does the feeling reverberate deep down in your bones?
Your phrases, strung together in a variety of pitches,
produce a composition of the wildest riches.
Both poetry and music bring joy to our ears,
and both can also, elicit tears.
